Duvalco Africa TFS unit

The Duvalco Truck Filtration System (TFS) is engineered to ensure that diesel fuel used in truck operations is free from contaminants like water and dirt. The system is integrated into the existing truck fuel tank and operates by continuously filtering the fuel as the vehicle runs, ensuring clean diesel is supplied to the engine.

Operation Mechanism

  • Fuel Extraction:

    • The pneumatic fuel pump extracts diesel from the lowest point of the truck's fuel tank, where water and dirt typically accumulate. This is critical for ensuring that the most contaminated fuel is targeted for filtration.

  • Initial Filtration:

    • The fuel first passes through a Bosch grit filter, which removes larger particulates before entering the main filtration unit, the Duvalco TFS system.

  • Main Filtration Unit:

    • Inside the Duvalco unit, the contaminated fuel is subjected to a multi-stage filtration process:

      • Water Separation: The water in the fuel is evaporated using exhaust heat, ensuring that only dry fuel continues through the system.

      • Dirt Filtration: The fuel passes through a Duvalco TFS cartridge designed to trap fine particles, filtering down to 3, 2, or 1 micron depending on the specific application. This ensures that even the smallest dirt particles are removed, which could otherwise cause damage to the engine.

  • Return to Fuel Tank:

    • The cleaned diesel, now free from contaminants, is returned to the truck’s fuel tank for use.

  • Air Management:

    • The system is connected to the truck's auxiliary air chamber. This connection ensures that the air used in the filtration process is never depleted below 4.5 bar, maintaining consistent system performance without affecting the truck's other pneumatic systems.

  • Key Components and Flow:

  • Air Vent to Atmosphere: Manages the air pressure within the system, preventing overpressure and ensuring stable operation.

  • Restriction and Charging Valves: These components regulate the flow of fuel and air through the system, ensuring proper pressure and flow rates are maintained.

  • Service Ball Valve & Non-Return Valve: These valves help in maintaining the direction of fuel flow, prevent backflow, and allow for easy maintenance of the system without shutting down the entire fuel line.

  • Charging Line: Connects the filtration system with the truck’s auxiliary air chamber, ensuring that the system is adequately powered, and that air pressure is maintained for proper operation.

  • Operational Notes:

  • The system operates automatically while the vehicle is in motion, continuously filtering the fuel and maintaining its cleanliness.

  • Evaporation Process: The system uses heat from the truck’s exhaust to evaporate water from the fuel, a process that is both efficient and utilizes existing vehicle systems, reducing the need for additional energy consumption.

  • The Duvalco TFS is an advanced, self-sustaining system that significantly enhances the reliability and efficiency of truck fuel systems by ensuring that only clean, dry diesel is used, thereby extending the lifespan of the vehicle's engine and related components, for more information click here.
